| The Music Teachers' Association of California, incorporated
in 1897, is a professional organization of approximately 4,200
members. Throughout its 100 year history, MTAC has dedicated
its efforts towards the pursuit of excellence in music education.
You are invited to join the MTAC-North San Diego Branch. If you are a resident within North San Diego County, you will find several types of membership for the Music Teachers’ Association of California available: Active, Provisional, Student or Associate.

Active: To be an active member, you must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in music from an accredited institution and a minimum of two years of music teaching experience.
Provisional with a Degree: This is for the applicant who has a degree in music, but does not have the two year’s teaching experience.
Provisional without a Degree: This is for the applicant who may not have a degree in music, but has had formal training and experience in music.
Student: This is for the college student who wants to become part of the Association.
Associate: This is for businesses such as music stores, dealers, and piano tuners.
Annual membership fees are as follows:
Active, Provisional and Associate: $116.00
New Member: Add application fee of $30 = $146.00
Students: $58.00
Membership applications are available from the North County Branch Membership Secretary, Barbara Menzie, BarbaraMenzie@sbcglobal.net. Completed applications, copies of diplomas and sealed transcripts, along with a check made out to MTAC, must be sent to Barbara Menzie. Do NOT send this information to the State office. The applications are initially processed at the local (branch) level.
As a member of the North San Diego Branch, we have certain expectations and requirements of our members. You are asked to attend at least two meetings a year, and are encouraged to attend more. We also expect teachers who have students in Festivals and Certificate of Merit to work a specified number of hours at or prior to these events. We are proud of our organization and know that to maintain excellence, it is necessary for all members to contribute in any way they can.
